“Lucky Charm” is the solo debut of Lana as a musician and music producer. Lana, already known as one of the members of Funky Kota unit Prontaxan projects other sides of himself through this album.
Lana dug his memories about 90’s dance music sounds that were dominated by Japanese music instrument makers like Korg M1, Roland JV 1080, Roland TB 303 synthesizers, Roland TR 909 drum machine, and sampling machines like Akai MPC or Ensoniq ASR. For him, electronic music brings back memories from when he picked up from school and his driver often played some “House Music” through the tape cassette, also the sports and racing video games music that he played on the Playstation console. Lana wants to recall his memories, nuance, feelings to his listener and mix it with today’s color of House, Breakbeats, Jungle and UK Garage.
For him, electronic music is the lucky charm for his musical journey. Experimenting the sound and production flexibilities are his main attraction to electronic music. Sampling techniques are one of the eye openers for his music. Chopping existing music, rearranging and making a collage into new music compositions are the true revolutionary.
In "Lucky Charm", Lana will collaborate with Uji "Hahan" Eko Saputro as the visual director. Hahan brought the work "Tekyan Tribe" as the artwork for this EP. Tekyan Tribe is a generative work that produces a character with unique attributes attached to the identity of its collaborators. For Lana, meeting with interdisciplinary artists is important in enriching his outlook on work. For him, fine art, film, and performance art can never be separated from the development of the electronic music scene, both in terms of production and presentation. The artist's ability to interpret sound language into visual and movement language makes him believe that electronic music will be his starting point and his future as an artist.
